COPPERFIELD ENTERTAINS "BOY BAND" STARS

A bit of Orlando Magic took place last night in Florida, as the World's greatest Illusionist, David Copperfield, met members of the World's best selling "Boys of Pop" following his SRO show at the Bob Carr Center.
Howie Dorough from the Backstreet Boys (not pictured), and from N'Sync (left to right); JC Chasez , Joey Fatone and Lance Bass, got a history lesson about the many Houdini Treasures Copperfield will be exhibiting in theatre lobby's, during his 40 city "PORTAL" tour of the USA running through May.
Items included Houdini's infant shoes that his Mom dressed him in; his magic wand, and a wax cylinder recording of Harry Houdini's voice made back in 1914 by Thomas Edison.

perform at Grace Community Church for kids of all ages. "It is just a

The newly released DVD "Melies: The Magician" is featured in an article
from SF Gate. The DVD features 15 short fils produced and directed by
the former magician turnerd film maker. The disc also presents a 130
minute documentary that interacts with the shorts as well as "provides a
context for appreciating Melies' work, explaining his magic tradition
and comparing his compositions to the painters of the time. "

focus of an article from the New Britian Herald entitled, "It is
pleasing to a parent when your child takes an interest in an activity
that he or she is talented in, whether it be sports, academics or the
arts.Though Peter Waluk admits his talent is a bit unorthodox, he says
it is nonetheless just as rewarding, as he aspires to become a great
magician." In the article, pter is quoted saying, "I've seen David

DOOLEY MOVES

According to an article appearing in the Las Vegas Sun,
Houdini Lives star Dixie Dooley is moving his show from the Plaza in Las Vegas to
the Medeteranian theater at the Greek Isles.
We also learn that on March 8 he will begin to
"produce two shows in the 100-seat Magic Theater at the new venue,
one featuring himself and one featuring illusionist Christian Augustine."

Magician Dewayne Hill is staging a free magic seminar at the Charleston
Library on February 2nd and 23rd. An article promoting the classes also

Gomemphis.com yesterday posted an article promoting Tom Mullica's
tribute to red Skelton which will be performed at the Bartlett
Performing Arts and Conference Center. Describing Tom's relationship to
Skelton and the show itself, the center's marketing assistantstated,
"Actually, he was a Las Vegas magician," Black said. "He met Red Skelton
18 years ago and admired him and put together a one-man show. He looks

From The Washington Times we discover an article promoting a new book by
Tahir Shah of India which is described as an "engaging exploration of
magic, illusion, and conjuring as they are practiced in India by a
remarkable group of holy men, charlatans, and individuals who are
neither quite one nor the other. " In the book, Shah is exposed to such
classical illusions as turning a rod into a serpent, rope tricks, bed of
nails, levitation. He goes on to say that "the attitude toward conjuring
in India is quite different from the Western view, in which magic is
recognized as clever illusion. In India, conjurers intend for their
illusions to be experienced not as magic but as miracle and depend on
their audience's willingness to believe and to take the illusions very

Ten" shows for 2001. Among the listed were two magic acts scaled more to
the cabaret size. At number 6 was Mac King's show at Harrah's of which
they say, "An amiably goofy magician has turned the day shift at
Harrah's into a showcase for his uniquely juvenile personality and the
best value in Las Vegas entertainment." At number nine was the Amazing Jonathan
of which they said, ""The only unsafe show in town," declares the Golden Nugget's
unlikely savior, a comedian-magician whose stage persona resembles a fully wired John
Belushi, with sharp objects at his command. "
