Today that says, "David Copperfield has made the Statue of Liberty
vanish, walked through the Great Wall of China, and flown through the

Elizabeth Warlock is the first woman to be awarded the David berglas award by the
British Magical Society, a prze first awarded to her father. According to an article from the
Evening mail of Birmingham England,
"A talented magician proved she knew the tricks of the trade by becoming
the first woman to receive a top award. Elizabeth Warlock kept the British
Magical Society spellbound ..." According to the piece
other winners included Allan Merrell who won the society's Gold Medal, only the fourth time that the medal has ever been awarded.
In addition, the society's Maurice Award for Showmanship was presented to Marc Dominic.

look into the increasing number of female magicians that are now
performing around the world. Among those mentioned in the piece are Luna
Shimada, Dorothy Dietrich and maritess. In the piece, Luna talks of the

PENN'S MANY HATS

The South Bend Tribune recently published an article entitled "It's not
sleight of hand; Penn Jillette wears many hats" which discusses his
musical talent and author. In the piece he says of their magic, "It's
all about exploring the boundaries of the human imagination, about
seeing how far we can take something without going over the edge," he

From the Evening Mail of Birmingham Englad we learn that "Barnt
Green-based Marc Dominic won the British Magical Society's Maurice Award
for Showmanship when he staged a show packed with vanishing card tricks,
goblets of fire and moving pictures. " This makes him only the second magician
to accomplish this in more than 100 years.

A performance by magicians Bryson Lange Byron, Jayson Schultz and Eric
Buss at the Gaslight Theatre is highlighted in a piece from the Arizona
Daily Sun under the title "Some very unorthodox magic." According to the
piece, "The internationally known magician and Tucson native plans to
take it off and put it back on when he performs a trilogy of his magic
segments - 'Before the Gig,' 'After the Gig' and 'During the Gig' -

Aspiring magician and escape artist Jason Rowton is the focus of an
article appearing in the Statesman Journal under the title "Magician
defies textbook tricks." Jason stages sporadic shows on campus as well
as occasionalyy sttempting escape stunts to get publicity. A Willamette
University student, Rowton is quoted in the article saying, "I just love
entertaining people. It¼s great. I make people forget about what is
going on in their lives for a little bit."

Two Ten Year old magicians from Palm Beach Florida are the subject of an
article in the Palm Beach Post entitled "10-Year-Olds Share A Friendship
Filled With Magic." Cassandra Roberts and Jessica Boady have been performing magic together
under the stage names Madame Zelda and Topaz at birthday parties and school events.
' "I love entertaining little girls and little boys," said Cassandra, a fifth-grader
at Highland Elementary in Lake Worth. "It's so fun to make them laugh." '
