"DAVID BLAINE FROZEN IN TIME: BLAINE'S CUT"
FEATURES NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN
FOOTAGE OF THE CHILLING, ICE ENDURANCE TEST AND ITS AFTERMATH
MONDAY, APRIL 16, ON ABC
Viewers Will Also Be Treated to New, One-on-One Mind-Boggling Effects
Last November David Blaine brought New York's Times Square to a near halt with the completion of his chilling endurance test -- standing virtually immobile inside a six-ton block of ice for nearly 62 hours ‚ until he was freed from his ice cube, live, on an ABC special. Now Blaine revisits his sleep-deprived, hallucinatory ordeal with never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes footage of his amazing feat -- in an encore performance of the special, "David Blaine Frozen in Time: Blaine's Cut," airing MONDAY, APRIL 16 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
In this presentation, edited by Blaine himself, the special will showcase new eye-popping up-close-and personal magic not included in the first airing of the special, plus appearances by Academy Award-winner Kevin Spacey, Lenny Kravitz and the New York Knicks. Viewers will also be treated to behind-the-scenes coverage of Blaine's battle with delirium, hypothermia and the other serious dangers he faced in attempting to complete his endurance test, performed in the tradition of the great Houdini. Never-before-seen footage of the after-effects of his long, grueling icy marathon also will be featured.
Blaine's daring test of mind, body and soul took place in full public view in the middle of New York City, at the heavily trafficked corner of 44th Street and Broadway, from Nov. 27-29, 2000. Hundreds of thousands of passersby were able to see and touch Blaine's ice encasement 24 hours a day, from the morning of the 27th, when he was shut inside the two blocks of ice, live on ABC's "Good Morning America," until he was freed late on the 29th, during his highly rated special.
David Blaine is the executive producer of "David Blaine Frozen in Time: Blaine's Cut." Blaine and Nancy Stern were executive producers of the original special, "David Blaine: Frozen in Time." William Kalush was co-executive producer. Roger Goodman was the director of the live coverage of the ice endurance experience. Tom Bramlett was the ice designer.
